JustLeadershipUSA calls on newly re-elected President Trump and his administration to advance criminal justice reform

November 8, 2024

JustLeadershipUSA (JLUSA) calls on newly re-elected President Trump and his administration to advance criminal justice and focus on reform efforts that reduce the prison population, eliminate private prisons, improve prison conditions, and support comprehensive reentry. By doing so, we will prioritize rehabilitation over punishment and adhere to America’s constitutional promise of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

JLUSA stands ready to protect the progress achieved over the past decade and will continue to advocate for decarceration and the protection of civil rights. At the same time, we aim to serve as a knowledge partner to the next administration as we have done previously, collaborating on strategies that uphold the civil rights and dignity of all justice-impacted individuals. We will remain vigilant in our efforts to ensure that the voices of those directly impacted by the criminal legal system are heard and that reforms are pursued to protect all individuals’ dignity, rights, and futures, regardless of their background.

We invite the new administration to engage with JLUSA’s expertise in criminal justice reform and join us in a conversation to explore how we can champion issues that impact the 70+ million justice-impacted Americans. We are confident that, together, we can ultimately build a stronger, more just nation for all.
